Het laatste schilderij dat in 2014 tot stand kwam. Eindelijk na jaren lukte het me om wat minder precies te schilderen. Ik heb dit pietepeuterig werk altijd met plezier gedaan, maar ik wilde toch altijd wel wat vrijer en losser schilderen. Het is tenslotte een schilderij en geen foto. Ik startte altijd met een brede kwast maar eindigde altijd met een penseel met maar enkele haren. Ik ben dus eigenlijk best blij met het resultaat van het schilderij Leiden. The last paining I finished in 2014. Finally after years I was successful to paint less precise. I always worked very detailed. And although I love this detailed work, I always wished to paint more free and loose. I did not want the painting to be a photograph. I always started with a wide brush and finished the painting with a brush with a few hairs. So I can say that I am quite happy with the result of this painting of Leiden.
